Lake Como is a glacial-lake and is the deepest lake in Europe and the third-largest Italian lake.
It is characterised by its Mediterranean climate, it offers beautiful landscapes with countless towns and villages perched on its shores as well as a special feature: “Hollywoodian“.
Has always been famous for its celebrities, Versace for example which often was a guest Madonna, since George Clooney has bought his famous villa in Laglio, Lake is on everyone’s lips. It’s nice because the mountain walls rise vertically from the water, it is wild, and enjoy the romantic spirits.
So many things to do even in Mandello that is well suited as a starting point for excursions on the lake or in the mountains.
Three suggestions:
this is a lombard village that lies on the east coast of the Lecco branch of Lake Como, located on the shore peninsula nearly opposite the village of Onno and dominated behind the natural towers of the Grigna. Mandello is renowned for its beautiful handmade silks, which once were woven in small workshops. In the nearby village of Abbadia you can visit a spectacular mechanical loom of the 19th century.
Mandello is also known for being the home of Moto Guzzi where you can visit a unique museum of its kind. Mandello is also suitable as a base for golf enthusiasts being within easy reach of several playgrounds.
Mandello del Lario is about an hour’s drive from Milan and the main local airports.
The access roads are comfortable and easy to follow.
By train you can reach easly Milan in just over an hour.
During the summer from Mandello del Lario start different cruises on Lake Como, and it can easily reach Lugano and Switzerland, ferrying from nearby Varenna.
